Improved Network Access and Delivery
ADARA Networks Mercury Series routers operate in the control and data planes, and are uniquely capable of routing based on concurrent knowledge of all the data in the OSI standards model. As a result, Mercury Series routers boost performance by routing concurrently at layers 1 through 7 of the OSI model while optimizing networking to support new and legacy classes of services.
Today’s information-now world depends on new services and applications that are:
- Dynamic
- Bandwidth intensive
- Peer-to-peer
- Multi-homed
- Service-oriented architectures
These services and applications require dynamic composition and anytime, anywhere functionality. Mercury Series routers are ideally suited to these applications by dramatically improving network access and delivery of all network and web-based services, content, and applications, regardless of complexity.

The Most Advanced Platform for Virtual Private Networking
The ADARA Networks Mercury Series VPN Concentrator (VPNC) supports SSL/IPSEC VPNs with capabilities not found in other VPNC platforms.
The ADARA Mercury Series VPNC:
- Enables multipath VPNs to deliver the highest level of security, reliability, performance, and redundancy
- Allows organizations to virtualize any connection medium of any type, with policy, load balancing, and virtualization
- Leverages all of the features of the ADARA Mercury platform, including QoS, compression, and full-stack routing
The ADARA Mercury Series Application Router (AR) features dynamic flat-distributed and routed domain name servers (DNS), obviating the latency of traditional hierarchical DNS and load-shifting problems between resolvers and name servers.
With ADARA GOLD best-match object routing, the ADARA Mercury Series AR also enables flat cooperative content routing that can scale to an infrastructure as large as the Internet.
Features and Benefits
- Support for any service, files, or content—whether static, streaming, or dynamic
- Uniquely capable of relocating a service from any point(s) to any point(s) on demand using push or pull
- Support for persistence and heuristics, as well as logical and physical connections
Full-Featured Application Delivery
The ADARA Networks Mercury Series Application Delivery Controller is a full-featured application delivery network (ADN) solution provisioned with complete ADC capabilities for application availability, security, visibility, and acceleration.
The ADARA ADC:
- Combines WAN optimization with the most advanced suite of application networking platform technologies ever developed
- Features ADARA Name-Enhanced Application Routing (NEAR), Dynamic Application Layer Routing (DLAR), Generic Object-Distance Location Routing (GOLD), and Web/WAN Information Location Distance (WILD) Routing
True Performance, End to End
The ADARA Networks Mercury Series Local Load Balancers (LLB) features ADARA’s unique WILD best-match routing capabilities, which distribute loads using well-known policies such as server performance, responsiveness throughput connections, utilization, and heuristics.
The ADARA LLB:
- Distributes requests and balances servers based on reachability for true end-to-end performance, failure-proofing levels of reliability, support for state-fullness, and SSL offloading
- Renders server-selection decisions according to the most granular knowledge available
- Enables optimal in-server virtualization and performance
Best of Breed Global Load Balancer
The ADARA Networks Mercury Series Global Load Balancer (GLB) allows real-time selection of the “best” server from all available servers. Designed to be best of breed, the ADARA GLB virtualizes all resources and performs site and server assignments dynamically based on factors such as reachability, end-to-end performance, and other network considerations.
The ADARA Mercury Series GLB:
- Optimizes networks, creates federated service-specific granular administrative server domains, and provides complete availability of resources and services
- Uniquely knows all conditions—such as software and hardware failures, power loss, or connectivity issues—and compensates for any anomalies
- Maintains full state in real time, eliminating the possibility of stale mappings to deliver the highest performing environment with highly available services
