The Adara NPX™ systems provide intelligent traffic management, and global load-balancing solutions. The Adara NPX systems calculate actual client location, network distance and congestion, object or service location, availability and server load, allowing them to direct clients to the optimal point of service every time.

Essentially, each NPX system consists of a set of functional modules:

NPX Application Routing

NPX eXternal Server Adapter
NPX Global Quality of Service Management
NPX Security
IPSec-based Virtual Private Networking
Firewalling
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

Together these set of modules provide a range of services not available on other networking platforms. The NPX can be used to:

Create an optimal interconnected mesh topology that establishes full knowledge of all objects, services and routes on the network, but with only minimal “state” at any one device. Networks can route efficiently and effectively without the overhead and severe latency associated with full state.
Eliminate barriers between heterogeneous servers, allowing servers of differing types and operating environments to cooperatively participate as a single server.
Aggregate the computational and storage resources of your network. You can scale your network to support the actual number of objects, services, and clients you service, creating a single virtual server where objects and services are available when and where needed with minimal latency.
Reduce the overall distance between request and object (number of routers, AS hops, and peering points). The NPX systems consistently know and use the clearest and least congested path, and reduce latency for increased performance, scalability and usability.

Because the NPX can Operate in the control or data path allowing maximum flexibility based on user requirements.

The Adara NPX systems direct the client to the optimal server using through multiple proprietary redirection mechanisms, including:

The shortest and clearest path from data source to a proxy that provides lower latency and lower packet loss
The shortest and clearest path between peered servers that produces the shortest path between object and request
The optimal server at the optimal site
The optimal path, dynamically for the client

The Adara solution allows the current network equipment to be extended while reducing replication.
